Description: Louis XVI style oval carved gilt wood framed mirrors with two-branch candle arms. Early XX century.
Location: MAISON FELICE. 73960 El Paseo, Palm Desert. CA.
Beginning Stage:
Mirror is missing stucco in varied areas.
Some fragments are partly severed while others were glued and attached poorly.
Original gold leaf is missing in a majority of the surface.
Task:
1. Cleaning of entire surface.
2. Reattachment of loose pieces.
3. Missing parts were carved.
4. Existing stucco was reinforced and patched.
5. First application of gesso and sealing of surface.
6. Application of bol and gilding.
7. Application of patina to blend all new and exiting materials.
